I have started a new blog just for those of you that would like to get sneak peeks at my new art work before it is listed on Etsy. I will also be giving discounts for fast deals on that site. If you would like to purchase an art piece before it is listed I will give you a nice discount on the price.

I will also create art just for prospective buyers. You just share what you would like. Do you want a fairy? and angel? boy or girl? do you like butterflies, fish, mermaids, music, I can incorporate it into your art. I will then notify you when it is complete. You then can be the first person to see the piece. If you want it you can buy it. If it didn't turn out like you expected it to then you are not obligated to buy it and you have invested no money in it.

Your video is wonderful! It brought tears to my eyes... yep Boo came over to comfort me. I remember when my baby left home to start his adult life. He left to join the marines. I was so sad and scared that I actually had a complete melt down. It is so hard to let go. While he was gone he met a wonderful girl. They now have 2 son's and another child on the way. I so wish they lived closer to me but I know he is happy and I guess that is all a mother can ask for.

It has many different layers which give it wonderful depth. You get not only the texture from the rough plywood but there are other elements on this painting which gives the painting a variety of texture. The painting is hung by a sturdy piece of ribbon so all you need is a small hook or nail to hang her. This picture has a protective coating that will make dusting her a breeze.

There are several elements to this painting. I first used a wood burning tool to outline these little girls. Their faces are done with a combination of colored pencils and paint to give them a sweet innocent look. Several layers give this picture depth and interest. This painting is about 16 inches tall x 15inches wide and ¼ inch thick. The front is signed. The back is signed, dated and the name of this picture.

His face is done with a combination of colored pencils and paint to give him his sweet innocent look. I have used paints, wood stain, sheet music, confetti and clay and a guitar pic to dress him up for a party. The sides are painted and also finished. I have signed the painting on the front and the back has the paintings name “Rock Star”, my name (the artist) and 10/08 which is when I finished this master piece. The painting measures approximately 16inches high by 15 inches wide and ½ inch deep.

More fun time with my Granddaugher

Yesterday I was blessed with some art time with my granddaughter. I haven't seen her for a while and she was so excited to see all the pictures that I'm currently working on. She saw the fairy queen that I'm still working on for her. I was going to put a puppy in the fairy queens arms well now it will be a dog that is dressed up...lol because that is what she wants.

My little fairy princess created a lot of new art for me but I was really impressed when she copied one of my pieces or art... my mermaid. So I wanted to share with you both of our pictures. For only 8 years old and a mother that claims she can't even draw a stick person I think she is doing great! I sent her home with some oil pastels (she loves using those) and a stack of card stock including several different colors for her to work with.

Earlier this spring I was going through a very hard time. Things are much better for me now although it is still a tough year for our household. I'm very thankful for the love of a very good man. But the point of this post is for my online friends that are going through hard times. I found that keeping an art journal was a life saver for me. I believe that it can help you too! It is a very easy exercise to help you deal with your feelings. I simply put my feelings into a page of my art journal (you can use a sketch pad, or just a piece of paper for this). Does it have to be a picture representing you and your feelings??? NO You can use color, words, abstract images, cut something out of a magazine anything that you can concentrate on and will represent your feelings. Are you angry? you can just scribble in red, Are you sad, scribble in blue. Once you have finished the page then turn to a fresh page and and create a page to represent your blessings. Yep even on our worst days there is always something that we can be grateful for. Even at the worst of times you do have a roof over your head. I know I can be grateful for a loving husband, I have 3 wonderful fur babies that love me no matter what, I have wonderful loving on line friends etc. The best thing you can do for yourself is to get the poison of pain, fear, anger etc out of your system and replace it with something that you can be grateful for or makes you happy!

I have started to put layers on this little girl. She isn't finished yet but I'm liking how she is coming together! I'm really having a lot of fun working on wood. I love how forgiving the wood can be and the wonderful texture that comes though.

Well I have faces and clothes for my little girls on wood. These are on pine and it is pretty rough wood but I think their faces turned out nice. The paintings are far from done but I wanted to show them off anyways...lol I'm working on one on a much smoother wood. I will post her when I get her face done.

Suzi Blu Class

This is the last face that I have finished. I have moved on to my junk wood again so that I can get better at wood burning, shading and painting faces on wood. We have also gotten to where we are making clothes for our pretty little girls. I am having so much fun with this class!! Suzi is so wonderful she is giving us more than she promised in PDF's and Videos. I can't believe that she has the time to keep the class going with over 300 people! She is still able to help us with little problems we have in our drawings and more important boosting our self confidence. The community that she has made is wonderful. Everyone is so supportive of each other... I have actually made a lot of friends and I hope that Suzi keeps the site going forever so we don't loose track of each other. (Suzi says she plans to leave the site up and that is wonderful!!)

Its late and I'm tired I will try to scan some stuff and share it on here tomorrow or the next day. You have an art filled day!!!

Mindy Girl is Mending

Our little Mindy girl is mending quickly. Yesterday when we were sitting on the back porch playing with the dogs little Mindy was in a very playful mood... In fact that was the first time that I saw her jumping around and playing!! Boo has a very large bone that he likes to carry around and chew on. Little Mindy saw it laying on the ground ... picked it up ... and tossed it in the air over her head. Then she ran around in the area and came back to give me a Mindy hug. It was so cute I wish I had a movie camera!!! To top it all off Mindy hasn't had a buffern for several days. I'm starting to believe my hubby that her problem was no exercise and no love.

Boo is still giving Mindy a hard time and Mindy is still a little skittish around Boo but it isn't as bad as it was at first... Boo will learn to accept Mindy as part of the family. And little Chase... he is a sweetie and loves his puppy hugs and he just loves everyone!!!

Suzi Blu Art Class

Hubby paid for me to take Suzi Blu's art class!! I'm so excited! I have the first lesson and have started practicing pretty eyes instead of scared eyes...lol I probably won't be adding much to this blog till I get done with the class. With my ATC swap group, the class, and my 3 babies I will be swamped. I will try to share some of my sketches but Suzi's class is copyrighted so I won't be sharing her secrets. I hope to have much prettier girls once I'm done with the class in Oct.

Ive never tried to draw wings before. I have seen several different styles of wings and some are going to take a lot of practice but I sorta like these simple wings.

Front cover of my new art journal... I tried several times but I couldn't get a good pic of this... that is the down side of a cheap camera and lot of glitter and shine

I used book board on each side of a zipper pocket so I could draw on a flat surface and protect the pocket that I use to carry pencils and such for drawing away from home. I just used cheap card stock for the pages because I will only be using pen, pencil or colored pencils in this journal

I created another art journal. I wanted something that was small enough to take with me and would store my pencils so they didn't get lost in my suitcase of a purse. Ive been thinking that I don't want to just draw pretty girls so I have decided to learn to make wings so my pretty girls could be fairies or angels. So I dressed up my new journal with fairies and angels I think it turned out pretty cool!

I purchased Suzi Blu's art kit and what a treasure that was!!! I got some fantastic directions on coloring a pretty face, and creating a multimedia piece of art! But that wasn't all I got... I got some really cool paint that creates wonderful depth and glimmer! I drew my own pretty girl on water color paper and then use a lot of stuff from my kit and some stuff I already had for my art. I'm so much happier since I learned to use watercolor to create the face instead of paint!!! Thank you so much Suzi for the wonderful kit and all the help you have given me to create pretty girls!!!!

My helper Boo... It is a challenge to get into and out of my crafting area!

Yep I work at my kitchen table and another table placed next to it. I have a small space that I can wheel around in my computer chair so I can reach almost everything that I need except when my helper squeezes into my small area!! Thanks Boo for all of your help and not getting angry when I spill paint on you or a jar of pencils tumbles on top of you. Its also nice that while you won't move for me to pick things up you don't mind it when I move a leg or tail that is in the way. And you don't wake up when I try to clean the paint off of you....lol... I love ya little Boo!

Chunky Book Pages

These little people with their ATC in hand is the front of my page. These are the 2 styles but they all have color variations. I used a dry brush technique to paint the background and the body is a domino colored with alcohol ink to color it and diamond dust embossing powder to give it its sparkle!
Above is the back of my pages. I used very wet watercolor to color the baby wipes for the background on these. It was fun making the butterflies with my cuttle bug!

I have finished my 4x4 pages for the no theme chunky book we are doing in our group. The pictures I took weren't so great but I tough I would share them. I believe that all book pages have to be done and in the mail by Oct 14 so I'm way ahead of schedule. Because I'm binding one set of the books and my sister is binding the other set I don't have to have my covers done at a set time... that is a good thing with everything going on right now.

My First Canvas!!

Well I finished my first painting on Canvas and I love it! I'll never get rich on my art but it is fun and relaxing to do. It feels good to get on canvas the picture that was in my head!

I included a view of the pic at an angel to show how the color seems to change when you look at it from different angels. I don't know what causes this but I sure love the effect. (I think I know how to reproduce the effect and will try to do that another day.
Now onto the 3 4x4 books that I have agreed to do!

Background Challange

One of my groups is doing a background challenge. It will be using supplies that you have around the house or can easily obtain. This first challenge was so fun and easy I want to share it with everyone!

I call this one Watercolor and Alcohol

1. Wet both sides of the paper with water to dampen the card.
2. Paint water color on the front of your card. The stronger the color the better this will work.
3. Quickly while the paint is still wet, dip your clean paint brush in the rubbing alcohol and lightly touch the surface of the wet paint with the alcohol. Let dry.
4. Add your own embellishments.

5. Do steps 1 and 2 but this time draw lines using a small clean paint brush and alcohol

6. Do steps 1 and 2 but this time dip a clean stiff bristle brush into the alcohol and flip the bristles with your finger, splattering the alcohol over the surface.
Let these dry and add your own embellishments!

Happy Birthday!

It's my youngest kiddo's birthday!!! Happy Birthday Jeff!! Wow I can't believe that he is 30 already!!! I gave him a happy birthday call and was I surprised!!! We have another grand baby on the way!!! The little tyke or tykette will arrive next March! He/She will have 2 older brothers!! It will make 3 wonderful kids for Jeff and his sweet wife Jaime! And yep this i This will be my 6th grand baby!!! That seems hard to believe when I'm only 29 years old this year (lol)

Well I wanted to share the happy news!

I hope to finish my first canvas tomorrow! I have a few little things to do to it before I call it finished.

I got this pretty ATC done and want to get some more done but time is not slowing down for me!!! I have several projects that I'm working on right now. I'm signed up for 2 chunky book swaps, a cool fiber/ribbon swap, Image swaps (those are done and waiting to be mailed. I just had to stamp out images with black ink on white card stock easy peasy!) My Art Journal hasn't gotten a lot of attention but as I work on my canvas the extra paint that I put out on my pallet I'm painting backgrounds in my journal to work on later. Ohhhhhhh the Canvas... I just started that last night and it is coming along. I just love working on canvas!!! I love the feel of the cloth under the paint brush and it is so much sturdier than paper! (DUH!!! LOL) Today and the next few days I will be cooking for FIL to help him be independent in his own home. We found out last Monday that he does have lung cancer but it is the kind that can be cured with surgery. We visit the surgeon next Monday and find out if he is in good enough health to go through the surgery. I would appreciate any prayers (or good wishes according to what you believe) that you can give for him.

Well back to the hot kitchen! The menu contains a lot of chicken, turkey and fish. Going to make some stir fry (that isn't fried) for him this time around.

It finally came!!! My kit is here!!! Looking through the kit it is just as (if not more) WONDERFUL as Suzi said it would be. Looking through all the wonderful stuff that came with this kit how could you help but have a wonderful painting. I looked at some of the directions for coloring the face and ohhhhhhhhhhh she makes it sound so easy. Yes I have worked with watercolor pencils before and I believe that I will be able to do this!!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE It!!! Thank you Suzi and I hope somehow I can get the money together to take your online class. I know I could learn so much from you!!!

Busy Days

I'm still working on my ATC's for different groups that I belong to. Once I get them scanned in I will share them. I have a painting in process to work on and the blank canvas setting their waiting for me. I will get caught up in time. This summer has been so busy!!! I look forward to when everything in my life settles down and I can spend more time with my art!

Mindy is coming along nicely. She still has traces of a limp and walks slow and careful but she is getting more curious and wandering around the house and yard more. Boo is still complaining that Mindy has girl cooties and he doesn't want her eating or drinking out of the dishes. But they are starting to get along better than they did at first. Mindy isn't as afraid of Boo as she was. Chase is getting along with Mindy great! Its fun when all 3 of my babies cuddle around me... I love the time can spend giving them lovin back!

I bought my first canvas to create art on!!! I'm so excited! I need to get a few ATC's that I created out but then I start work on my Canvas! I have 2 beautiful white 12 x 12 space to create art on!! Walkin the Dog

I got this idea when hubby and I took our dogs for a walk. I started out with a flat painting but didn't like it because there just wasn't anything really exciting about it. I added a lot of texture to the background by paining paper towel, tearing it up and layering it on the paper. I then took a paper doll that I had made and added her on top. I used brown velour paper to make the dog. The dog's collar and leash are gold fiber. The little house is a button. The butterflies are sequins, The clouds are very fluffy made of sparkle flakes (the type of stuff you buy at Christmas time to make snow). The flower and leaf are 3 dimensional. and she as a large glass bead at the top of her dress. I used a lot of glitter glue, pearl ex, and shinny mod podge to give her a lot of sparkled and shine. There is a shadow of leaves at the top of the painting.

Update on Mindy

Well our little girl Mindy is doing better already! Hubby gives her massages to loosen up her muscles (Boo gets upset if I give her too much attention) and we have encouraged her to move around more and it is working. We both believe that all that was wrong with her legs was she was stiff from being tied up and never taken for walks! Last night she got up on the sofa with very little help. Today she is getting up from a sitting position and walking a lot faster. I watched her get on the porch (its about 2 feet up) without the use of the steps! Her tail is at half mast instead of between her legs (that is a sign that she isn't as scared as she was at first! It may never go all the way up because Boo won't let her be dominate dog... but that is OK we just want them to be friends!)

Boo is getting a little better with her but is still barking in her face at times. We are giving Boo time out (believe this or not but when we lock him out of the house for a while he really dose better when we let him back in...lol)

It would be wonderful to be able to see all 3 dogs playing in the back yard together! We hope that Mindy will keep improving as she has the past couple of days! We aren't asking for miracles as we understand she is a very old baby but just seeing her happy gives me such a wonderful feeling!

Mindy no sooner got into our house and she found a dish of food... She made herself right at home and ate her fill before we started cleaning her up. You can't really see the mats or bald spots in this pic but she was a real mess and it will probably take a while for her coat to grow back but it will and she loves her hair combed so she shouldn't have a problem with mats ever again!!

Boo Boo Bear is my baby, I was looking for a bouv puppy and I fell in love with him. The person that we got him from said he was 6 weeks old and he looked it ... Later when we where asking more questions about him we found out he was only 3 weeks old when we brought him home. He is now 5 yrs old and spoiled rotten (I spoil all my babies...lol) Shame on all breeders that will cross breed dogs on purpose and especially those that would give away a puppy that is under 6 weeks of age!! (he is lab and bouv mix)

Chase was rescued from going to the pound when he was a puppy! He is now our sweet little baby (About 10 years old now) He is such a sinker... he loves to hide Boo's toys...lol

Well she really isn’t a baby … the vet said she is between 10 and 12 years old. Here is her story! We were taking her to the pound for someone because we all thought she had mange and she was having a lot of trouble walking. She lived outside and was on a chain that was way to heavy for her. All she would do was lay there. When I took the chain off her she wouldn’t even follow me around the yard like she used to! Well we put little Mindy in the back seat of our blazer and set out for the pound. Mindy really perked up she just loved the ride! Hubby and I started talking and decided it would be better if our vet put her to sleep as at the pound they don’t even act like they like dogs!!!! So we turned around and headed towards the Vet. With a lot of discussion we decided to have the vet check her over and see if she had anything contagious At that time we already had 2 dogs) and how much it would cost to bring her health back if it was possible.
The Vet explained that she is half German Sheppard and half husky and that when huskies shed the undercoat gets caught causing mats… when the mats get too big they will pull the hair out and that was why she was bald in places. Of course he did a skin scraping and found that she did not have mange. He checked her over and gave us stuff to clean and medicate her ears …. They were really gross! So on the way home with Mindy we stopped to pick up some clippers to help get the mats out of her hair. We spent about 4 hours last night combing , shaving and bathing little Mindy! She was such a good girl and even started to fall asleep while we were combing and shaving her…lol We decided that was enough for one night as we had all had a very hard day. She still needed her nails trimmed and her ears cleaned but she had been in this shape for a long time … one more night wasn’t going to make a lot of difference. We locked Mindy in the kitchen because we were not sure that she was house broke. This morning she was ready to run outside but she had not had an accident in the night! What a blessing that I won’t have to house break her. We did get her nails trimmed and her ears are clean and medicated. I gave her a buffern and she seems to be walking a lot better now.
Our little cockapoo Chase has been very welcoming to Mindy. The Bouv/lab mix, Boo Boo Bear is a different story. We have had to close all the doors and keep Mindy where we can see her as Boo true to his Bouv nature keeps getting her cornered and barking at her! He seems to be doing a little better now but I think that it is because Mindy is in Hubby's chair and he is laying between her and me. I know he is trying to protect me from this intruder dog but enough is enough….lol Boo is really a sweet dog when he isn’t trying to protect me so I know that he will warm up to little Mindy in time.
Well all of this is taking away from my time with my art but Mindy having a comfortable last few years is worth it! She has such a sweet disposition and now that her hair is clean and she doesn’t stink her fir feels like silk. We never planned on having 3 dogs but we couldn’t put her down… she is to healthy and so sweet. She will never again be tied up with a chain… she has a big back yard to play in and a soft place to sleep. She will never be exposed to bad weather any longer than it takes her to do her business outside.
I have a few ATC’s that I did the other day and when I get back to my craft area (that is where the printer/scanner is I will put them up for all to see.

Granddaughers Art

What better complement could I ask for than to have my lovely 8 year old granddaughter copy some of my art! I have been working on a painting of a woman walking her dog.... Inspired by my walk with hubby and our dogs. Katie saw it laying there and started trying to copy it. I did show her how I make hands, eyes and the dog. I think she did a wonderful job!! I always love her visit and now they are even more fun because she loves to create art with me!

Flower Lady

I created this lovley lady with acrylic inks. I had added touches of colored paper, german scrap butterflies and beads to give it some added interest. I covered the complete picture with Mod Podge to make it more durale. I have posted her on E-Bay to sell but as this is the first thing I have tried to sell I don't expect much. If she doesn't sell I will be happy to keep her as I think she turned out nice.
